American Marketing Association Regional Conference
Co-Sponsored with PACE New York City & Hofstra University
Date: November 22, 2008 Attendance 10 members
For the first time in the Northeast East Regional Conference history, the Pace Pleasantville Chapter teamed with the Pace New York City Chapter and Hofstra University to host the American Marketing Association Regional Conference at the Pace New York City Campus on November 22. The conference saw 120 AMA Collegiate members from 10 schools meet for a day of professional seminars and networking with business practitioners and fellow marketing students, as well as enjoy the sights and sounds of New York City. The Theme of the Conference was “Marketing in the 21st Century,” and the speakers addressed the new social technologies and challenges marketers face in the 21st century.
The Pace University Pleasantville provided three speakers for the event through networking within our chapter. Paul Kurnit, an expert in brand strategy and cultural and marketing trends, spoke about the challenges of branding in a Web 2.0 era. Mr. Michael Della Pena, former CMO of Epsilon, addressed the issues of “participatory marketing,” where the consumer can control the pace of marketing communications. Dr. Tom Failla spoke about Sustainable Marketing, challenging the audience to consider the issues involved with “Green Marketing.” Ms. Lisa Hendrikson, Director of Direct Marketing at 1-800-flowers.com provided by Hofstra University, spoke about the growth of internet marketing and its impact in the gift industry. Our students from our chapter were thrilled to bring back the information obtained from the conference and share it at our next meeting. The conference also provided a excellent networking opportunity among other students from different universities, and also among the speakers.
